Sinonasal inverted papilloma: rate of recurrence and malignant transformation in 44 operated patients
2021, Brazilian Journal of OtorhinolaryngologyCitation Excerpt :Furthermore, they had found absence of HPV-positivity among SCC patients, which suggests the virus is not a contributing factor for malignant transformation.14 SNIPs are associated with malignancy, with a malignant transformation rate of 1.9–15%.5,7,15–17 SCC is the predominant histologic type developed, but mucoepidermoid carcinoma and sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma have also been described.5,16
Sinonasal papillomas: A single centre experience on 137 cases with emphasis on malignant transformation and EGFR/KRAS status in “carcinoma ex papilloma”
2020, Annals of Diagnostic PathologyCitation Excerpt :Malignancies of different histological types have been described but the majority are squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) [5]. By 2014, 240 cases of “carcinoma ex sinonasal papilloma” have been reported in the literature [5]; Only 19 cases were associated with OSP [3,4,6-11]. Histological criteria to predict risk of malignancy have not been established.
Meta-analysis of 701 published cases of sinonasal neuroendocrine carcinoma: The importance of differentiation grade in determining treatment strategy
2016, Oral OncologyCitation Excerpt :Reported confidence intervals are for 95% probability. After discarding articles not including original clinical data or compound data, a total of 171 articles remained available for analysis [4–174]. Full text copies were available for 167 of these.
Undifferentiated carcinoma in oncocytic Schneiderian papilloma. A rarity
2013, Acta Otorrinolaringologica EspanolaBenign Cysts and Tumors of the Paranasal Sinuses
2012, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :Excluding inflammatory and allergic polyps, benign epithelial tumors within the paranasal sinuses are infrequent. Papillomas of the sinonasal tract are benign, localized proliferations of the respiratory mucosa of this region.112–136 The mucosa develops into 3 histomorphologically distinct papillomas: fungiform, inverted, or cylindrical cell lesions showing features of both the inverted and the cylindrical cell types that may be termed mixed or hybrid papillomas.
